3 Ways to Rest and Reflect This Weekend
Sep 01, 2023Can you believe it? It's already September! Which means this weekend, if
you live in the US, we celebrate Labor Day.
This time of year is powerfully symbolic and serves as a necessary shift and
time for reflection.
The transition from summer to fall reminds us to slow down, take inventory
of our schedules, and release the busy energy of summer.
Here are 3 Ways to Spend Your Labor Day Weekend Resting and
Reflecting:
1. Start your mornings slower than usual. Rather than waking up fast and
exposing yourself immediately to email, social media, deadlines, and
responsibilities, take a few moments over the coming days to start your
mornings slower: connect to the breath, step outside to feel the final wisps of
summer air on your skin, enjoy a moment of stillness, or spend a few
minutes reflecting in your journal. Be present with yourself before offering
your energy to others.
2. Leave space in your calendar. Especially on extended holiday
weekends such as this. Rather than packing your schedule full of activities,
fun, and adventure, create a sense of luxury and excitement by only
choosing a few activities to look forwad to and enjoy. Utilize the newfound
spaciousness in your calendar for opportunities to rest and restore - body,
mind, and spirit. This holiday weekend serves as a fantastic bridge to a more
restorative season of Fall.
3. Take moments for gratitude and reflection. There have been many
experiences and exchanges in life that have had to line up just right for you
to be where you are today. You are right on track and you are right where
you belong. Celebrate those who have come before you, offered support
when you needed it most, and served as invaluable stepping stones of
inspiration for you to be where you are today. And celebrate yourself for the
courage and commitment you've cultivated to continue your purposeful
journey forward.
As we downshift from Summer to Fall, use these practices to adjust your
perspective from outward to inward.
Wishing you a joy-filled weekend grounded in love. For yourself. For others.
For all.
